Linda Wieditz Regatta

 optilw.jpg  August 4,2005 2nd Annual Linda Wieditz Memorial Regatta. Light and variable east breeze with 37 Opti sailors ready to sail fast! After a quick postponedment the racers were off and ready to sail. The yacht club was filled with Opti coaches, sailors and parents.

New Zodiak Pro 9!

zodiak.jpg  Thanks to the generosity of a few donors the sailing program was able to purchase a Zodiak Pro 9 Rigid Inflatable boat.  The Zodiak will be used in the Opti program as a coach/safety boat.

Wind Gods Taketh Away

Due to lack of wind, all of last weekend’s races were abandoned. Conditions were light from Cape Ann to Marblehead where Race Week concluded with only 2 out of 3 starting lines able to get in a start on Sunday. The SBYC Division of Weather Management is working on the problem!

Cherry Clark Regatta Takes Off

The first annual Cherry Clark Memorial Regatta got underway with clear skies and light breezes this past Saturday morning. The regatta was established in memory of Cherry Clark, a longtime and dearly loved member of the club. It features a team racing format which delighted racers and inspired numerous requests for more of this exciting variation on our favorite summer pastime.
