Racing Season off to Spectacular Start

Spectacular weather conditions graced Sandy Bay as the Hilary Smart Regatta ushered in the 2007 racing season. Nineteen boats, representing all four one-design fleets, were out on the water over Memorial Day weekend as the season got off to its strongest start in years.

On Saturday, summer-like temperatures and westerly to northwesterly breezes made Sandy Bay the place to be and although Sunday’s winds from the east and southeast were somewhat cooler it was still a glorious sailing day. On Monday, the early morning rain and clouds had cleared out by noon and the warm, steady southwesterly made for comfortable but fast sailing on flat water.
