Nor’easter Pounds Cape Ann – Saturday’s Race Cancelled

01.jpgA strong nor’easter has been pounding us for the last several days, and doesn’t seem to want to go away. Large waves, driving rain and northeast winds have been persistent, with consistent 30-40mph winds gusting to 50 mph.

The club has sustained some damage to the docks, and the ramp had fallen off of the docks when a spring chain let go. As seen in the photo, the 420 docks lost an easterly anchor, and the string of floats is well out of position.

The club power boats also have some problems, hopefully minor. Luckily there were not too many boats on moorings in the outer harbor, as they could have sustained damage.

Since repairs will take a few, if not several, days to complete, races have been cancelled for Saturday, May 28. We are not sure at this time about the status of races for Sunday and Monday, but it is possible that those races may also be cancelled.

Watch here for updates, as well as other storm photos coming soon.
