Trophies are awarded on Labor Day to winners
in the Club's weekend and holiday series races. Trophies for the winners
of the Tim Baker 420 Regatta and Linda Wieditz Opti Regatta are awarded at
the end of each Regatta.
In addition to racing trophies, the Club presents special awards to
Juniors on Labor Day. These are:
Commodore's Cup
Given annually to that Junior Member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club who best
exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship during the season.
Malcolm Seavey Award
Given annually to that Junior Member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club who has
made the most improvement in sailing ability over the course of the
season.
Marion Cooney Award
Given annually to that Junior Member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club who best
combines the following qualities: Sailing ability, integrity, helpfulness,
and consideration for others.
Gene "Shorty Lesch" Award
Given annually to a Junior Member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club in
recognition of outstanding Skill in seamanship and small boat handling.
