Sandy Bay Yacht Club has approximately 800 members ranging in
age from 8 to 95, and has enough diverse activities, both sailing and social, to please
all. Some of the benefits of club membership include:
Access to the Yacht Club facility including Clubhouse, wharf
and floats.
Eligibility to enroll in the Junior Sailing Program, the Adult
Sailing Program, or Private Sailing Lessons.
Eligibility to participate in club sponsored races and
regattas in several one-design and cruising classes.
Participation in club social events including chowders,
weekend coffees, after sailing get togethers, dances, cookouts and catered or potluck
suppers.
Club merchandise is offered for sale to Club Members.
Use of club owned sailboats, once you are authorized by club
personnel, including Rhodes 19s, Bullseyes, and use of row boats.
Access to our Snack Bar for lunches - enjoy them in our
waterfront rocking chair fleet.
Be a spectator on the waterfront to enjoy being around boats
and boating and enjoy watching top flight sailing and racing in and around Sandy Bay.
One thing that membership does not guarantee, however, is a
mooring or dock space. Our facilities as well as Rockport Harbor are small, and the demand
for dockage or moorings is high. The Town of Rockport and the
Rockport Harbormaster has control of all
mooring permits issued, so one needs to fill out a mooring permit application at Town
Hall. There is a waiting list, and the length of the wait is determined by the date of the
application and the type and size of boat. You do not need to have a boat in Rockport or
even own a boat to become a member of SBYC.
Types and Dues
Membership in Sandy Bay Yacht Club is very affordable, and
the dues are age dependent. There are three basic types of membership - Junior (age 8 to

Family Membership which is for two parents/guardians and two or more kids (age 8-20). There
may also be
additional fees for boatowners (check with Manager for applicability). Currently our annual dues are
