Brian David Bones

David Bones of Rockport, MA, formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ, died July 25,
2017. He was 53. Loving father of Erin Bones of Spring Valley, CA; Bridget
Bones of San Diego, CA and Patrick Bones 2nd Lt USMC of Twentynine Palms,
CA. Beloved son of Teri Bones and the late James M. of Cherry Hill, NJ. Dear
brother of Jamie Bones of Medford, NJ; Belinda Bones of Defiance, PA; Mary
Anne Bones of Marlton, NJ and Caroline Bancheri (Salvatore) of Ventnor, NJ.
Brian lived a life full of travel, with a love of art and a passion for
sailing. He leaves behind his three children, mother and four siblings.
Brian was born on November 21, 1963 in Silver Spring, Maryland to James and
Teri Bones. He is the fourth of five children. The young family settled in
Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where Brian spent his childhood and teenage years.
As a child Brian would spend many afternoons at the Garden State Race Track
with his father, Jim. They shared many happy memories there. Brian attended
Cherry Hill High School East, where he was an athlete on the cross country
team, and spent his summers working on the Cow Tail Farm.
After his high school graduation Brian attended Rutgers University in New
Brunswick, New Jersey to pursue a degree in English Literature. This forged
a lifelong passion for poetry and a deep appreciation for the English
language. He was the president of his fraternity, and worked at the Dumont
Landis art gallery. Upon graduation he assumed management of the gallery and
spent several years deeply immersed in the art world. Soon thereafter Brian
moved to northern New Jersey to work for MetLife as a group life insurance
salesman. It was there he began a successful career in group life insurance,
culminating in the position of Vice President of Group Sales for Prudential
in Parsippany, New Jersey. It was during this time Brian met and married
Mary Gillcrist, and they were blessed with three children: Erin, Bridget,
Brian retired to Rockport, Massachusetts in 2009 to pursue his love of
sailing. He was an active member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club for many years.
He traveled across the United States to race his Rhodes 19 sailboat in New
England, New Orleans, and Chicago. Brian will be missed deeply by his family
and the sailing community in Rockport.
The Bones Family was blessed to recently participate in Patrickís graduation
from Officer Candidate School for the United States Marine Corps. The Bones
children will continue to carry on Brianís legacy, and to honor their
Relatives and friends will gather Saturday August 5th from 10 to 10:45 AM in
St. Thomas More RC Church 1439 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003. Mass
of Christian Burial Saturday 11 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery,
Conshohocken, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made
