Claudia S. Greely

ROCKPORT Claudia S. (Dupraz) Greely, 58, beloved wife of John W. Greely, of Whale Cove Road, Rockport, died on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at her residence in the presence of her family.

She was born in Princeton, N.J. on July 4, 1950, daughter of the late Lawrence L. and Nora M. (Enright) Dupraz. Claudia was a graduate of Princeton High School, Princeton, N.J., Class of 1968. She was also a graduate of Newton College of the Sacred Heart (now Boston College), Class of 1972. She received her Master's of Education from Lesley College.

For several years, she was a special education teacher at St. Ann's Hilltop School in Methuen and later at the Beeman School in Gloucester.

She had resided in Rockport for the past 30 years where she was a member of the Rockport Garden Club and the Sandy Bay Yacht Club. In earlier years, she was an active volunteer of the Rockport School System and especially enjoyed helping with the Enrichment Program. Claudia enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for her family and friends. She was a warm, caring and compassionate person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, John W. Greely of Rockport; four beloved sons, Sean M. Greely and his wife Marion (Warner) of Baltimore, Matthew L. Greely of North Providence, R.I.; Andrew J. Greely and Timothy G. Greely, both of Rockport; several cousins; and her beloved Setters, "Abby" and "Brigs."

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St., Gloucester, on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. The burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that contributions may be made in her memory to Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St., Gloucester, MA 01930; or to the Rockport Garden Club, c/o L. Walker, 176 South St., Rockport, MA 01966.
