ROCKPORT — Deborah A. Parks, 62, of Rockport, wife of the late Winfield
Parks, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 in the Addison
Gilbert Hospital.
Deb was born in Keene, N.H. on Feb. 15, 1948, the daughter of Nancy
(Barnard) Kenny and the late Leroy John Kenny. She attended Keene High
School and graduated with the class of 1966 and continued her education at
the University of Maryland, earning her B.S., with a magna cum laude status.
Deborah's life was a jam packed adventure from there on.
She married Winfield Parks, who was a well-known National Geographic
photographer, and they traveled all over the world. She herself worked for
Nat. Geo. as a film reviewer for the staff travel service. Her husband
passed away at an early age and she continued to keep herself very busy with
a variety of jobs.
Never one to be idle, she also worked at the Bureau of National Affairs in
Washington, D.C. from 1981-1988 as an editor, a tax researcher at Taxware
Int., and her last job as a tax consultant for Price, Waterhouse & Coopers.
She was not one to be tied down to a 9-5 routine. Being a woman of many
talents, she also did landscaping, worked on a turkey farm, spent a summer
cooking for an Annisquam family and also found time to take an H&R Block tax
course.
Her constant companion was Fred the Dog, whom passed away before her. She
led an active life, skiing, playing tennis and salt water fishing, mostly
for striped bass, with her dear friend Bruce Reed. Being on the parade route
for the 4th of July Rockport parade gave her reason to host a party every
year during the festivities. A bright, intelligent, generous, wonderful
friend has gone, but her love of life will live on in their hearts.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy Kenny of Florida; and her loving
Rockport family, Bruce and Mary Reed, and their three children, Michael and
Andrew DeRosa, and Story Reed. She was predeceased by her husband, Winn; her
father, Leroy; and her beloved brother, David.
ARRANGEMENTS: In keeping with Deb's wishes, there are no services or
visiting hours and burial will be held privately. Kindly omit flowers, and
contributions may be made in her memory to the Sailing Program at the Sandy
