Don Buckley

ROCKPORT — Mr. Donald Francis Buckley, 81, of Rockport,
beloved husband of Barbara Jean (Malone) Buckley died unexpectedly
Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at home.
Born in Boston, son of the late John M. and Marguerite
(Dooley) Buckley, he received his early education in Rockport and was a
graduate of Gloucester High School and Fisher College for Men. An
honorably discharged veteran, he served his country honorably during the
Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Professionally he had
been employed for 37 years for the New England Telephone Company and at
the time of his retirement in 1989, he concluded his career as a
contract inspector for various telephone companies.
As an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting with his
beagles and boating, having owned several vessels over the years. He was
a long time member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club in Rockport, having first
joined in the 1930s. He skied with the National Ski Patrol in New
Hampshire for many years having helped and rescued many people on the
slopes. He was an active member of the Rockport American Legion.
In addition to his beloved wife, Barbara, he is
survived by his devoted daughter, Michele Buckley-Linsky and son, D.
Peter Buckley and his wife Joni Buckley; one grandson, Benjamin E.
Linsky; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Michele Buckley, all of Rockport;
and his brother, John D. Buckley of Miami, Florida and Rockport.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at a
later date and will be announced by the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home,
