KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine — Dorothy P. (Parsons)
Christopher, 82, beloved wife of James W. Christopher, of Brooksby
Village in Peabody, MA, formerly of Andover, died on Wednesday, Nov. 9,
2011.
Dorothy was born on June 4, 1929, daughter of Roland
Parsons and Mary (Emery) Parsons Collins. She was raised in
Kennebunkport, Maine, graduating from Kennebunk High School in 1947 and
Dean Academy. She completed her education at Sargent College/Boston
University in 1952.
Dorothy taught Physical Education in the Andover Public
School System until her retirement in 1990. Dorothy was a member of the
U.S. Sail and Power Squadron Merrimac Valley Chapter, the Sandy Bay
Yacht Club in Rockport and taught swimming as a volunteer at the Andover
Y. She enjoyed sailing, skiing and all water activities. In her later
years she was rarely seen without one of her knitting projects.
In addition to her husband James whom she shared 58
years of marriage, Dorothy is survived by her 2 children and their
spouses, Carol and Richard Arnold of Norwell, MA, and Eric and Micky
Christopher of Alpharetta, GA; 2 grandchildren, Caitlin Christopher and
Ryan Christopher of GA.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her memorial service will be held on
Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 302
Brooksby Village, (off of Rte 114) in Peabody, MA. Relatives and friends
are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made in Dorothy's name to the Sandy Bay Yacht Club Junior Sailing
Program, P.O. Box 37, Rockport, MA 01966 OR Mass General/North Shore
Cancer Center, 102 Endicott St., Danvers, MA 01923. Arrangements are by
