Edward W.M. Bryant

Edward W.M. Bryant, 82, of Washington, D.C. and
Rockport, died on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at his home in Washington, D.C.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Feb. 24, 1924, son of
the late Wallace Bryant and Marjorie Millard Rice and grew up in Rockport.
He was graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, N.H.,
and Harvard University. He served in the United States Army during World War
II from 1943 to 1945, serving in Germany and France. In 1951, he joined the
U.S. Foreign Service, serving in Europe, Africa and Asia until his
retirement in 1981.
His interests include hiking, sailing, photography and
collecting art from the many countries he lived in.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bilha (Mosheva)
Bryant; three daughters, Penelope Catterall of Bethesda, Md., Deborah Keeley
of New York City, and Alexandra Whitaker of Fairfield, Conn.; as well as
four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Bryant.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral services will be held on
Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Broadway,
Rockport. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There will
be no visiting hours. The burial will be held in Beech Grove Cemetery,
Rockport. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Michael J.
Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box
4777, New York, NY 10163. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by the
Burgess and Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main St., Rockport.
