H. Lawrence Jodrey

ROCKPORT -- The Honorable H. Lawrence Jodrey, 81, passed away peacefully
at Addison Gilbert Hospital yesterday.
Born in Rockport, he was the son of the late Harvey L. Jodrey and Addie
L.C. Dodd Jodrey.
He graduated from Rockport High School and received his juris doctor
degree from Northeastern University. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard
during World War II.
At the time of his retirement he was serving as presiding justice of the
District Court of Eastern Essex, where he had served for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 98 of Rockport, the Sandy Bay
Yacht Club, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Judge's
Conference, the Brookline Bird Club, a life patron of the Rockport Art
Association, a sponsor of the Essex County Greenbelt Association, a life
member of the Sandy Bay Historical Society, a member of Trustees of
Reservations, a former trustee of Addison Gilbert Hospital, a former trustee
of Cape Ann Savings Bank, an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Rockport,
a member of the Gloucester Elks Club, a member of the Cape Ann Historical
Society, a former member and chairman of the Rockport School Committee, the
former town attorney for Rockport, the former town moderator of Rockport and
honorary retiree of the Rockport Police Department.
He is survived by friend and companion of nearly 50 years Gerald L. Soucy
and his cousins Heidi Dallin and Joan Dallin, both of Gloucester.
Burial services will be private.
