Harold R. Boynton Jr.

Harold R. Boynton Jr., 79, of Rockport, husband of Betty Boynton, died on
Saturday, March 20, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in
Gloucester.
Mr. Boynton was born in Lawrence on Jan. 13, 1920, to the late Harold and
Annie Boynton.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45 in the Pacific Theater. Following
the end of the war, Mr. Boynton worked at, and later owned and operated,
Boynton Press, Inc., a specialty printing business in Lawrence.
He was an active member of several Masonic Lodges and associations, and
was a member of the Rockport Methodist Church.
For many years, he was active in both Boy Scouts and the camping services
at the Lawrence YMCA.
In addition to his wife Betty, Mr. Boynton is survived by his daughters,
Beverly J. Boynton of Kelly, WY, and Dorothy A. Rust of Frederick, MD, and
Rachael A. Boynton of Gloucester; sons Walter R. Boynton of Prince
Frederick, MD, Edward D. Boynton of Gloucester, and Peter J. Boynton of
Bedford; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Boynton was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy, in 1986.
A memorial service will be held in the Rockport Methodist Church on
Wednesday, March 24, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery
in North Andover at 2 p.m.
