John Preston

Rockport - John W. Preston, 91, of Rockport, husband of Shirley T. Preston,
passed away with his loving family at his side, on Monday evening, August 5,
2019, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, Mass. John was born in
Beverly, Mass., on November 12, 1927, and was the son of the late William
and Ruth (Flanagan) Preston. He was a graduate of St. John's Prep and
Georgetown University. He later enrolled in the U.S. Marine Corps. His
passion for St. John's Prep and the Marine's stayed with him throughout his
entire life. John was also an avid sailor. He will be missed dearly.
John is survived by his wife, Shirley Preston of Rockport, Mass.; his three
children Kathy Baldwin of Hamilton, Mass.; Cheryl Wood of Manchester, Mass.,
and William Preston of Rockport, Mass.; and eight grandchildren, Dustin
Temple, Wesley Temple, Ashley Temple McManus, Erika Baldwin Hart, Connor
Baldwin, Tyler Wood, Miles Wood and Dillon Preston; and five
great-grandchildren.
In keeping with John's wishes there are no visiting hours or services. His
burial is being held privately. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home,
