June (Walker) Lesch, 88

June (Walker) Lesch, 88, wife of the late Gene "Shorty" Lesch, died unexpectedly Wednesday.
She was born in Palmer, June 2, 1915, daughter of the late Charles and Anne Walker.
In 1946, she and her daughter from a previous marriage became residents of Rockport,
and one year later she married her husband of 52 years, Shorty.
In 1959 she and Shorty purchased their Bearskin Neck property from which they
ran their pewter shop, "The Weathervane," for 25 years.
Her husband was Rockport's Harbormaster. During that time she manned "Base Rockport"
from their home and christened two harbor patrol Boats. She was an honorary
lifetime member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club. She loved traveling and enjoyed
many vacations in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Florida. She was proud
of her family and enjoyed her many friends and neighbors, with whom she led
an active social life.
She is survived by three children, Judith Davis
and her husband Stephen, Roger Lesch and his wife Rosemary, all of Rockport,
and Scott Lesch and his wife Arlene of Gloucester; five grandchildren, Jill
Amaral and her husband Russell, Sven Davis, Story Reed, Thomas Lesch and
Rachel Lesch; three great-grandchildren, Ian Weller and his wife Melissa,
Zachary Silverman and Jacob Silverman; two great-great-grandchildren, Rhys
Weller and Lillian Weller; two nephews, Craig Phelon and Michael Walker;
a niece, Sara Godek and her husband Thomas and a dear friend, Evelyn Wonson.
She was predeceased by her brother, Edwin Walker; two sisters, Marion Woods and
Helen Phelon; a niece, Heather Phelon; a nephew Gerald Woods; and a cousin,
Helene Desmond.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 20,
at 11 a.m., in the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main St., Rockport.
