Norman E. Felchner, 73, husband of Joan M. (Connell) Felchner of 8 Seaview
St., Rockport, died yesterday morning, April 29, at Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Mr. Felchner was born in Littlefield, Illinois, on Nov. 4, 1925 to the late
Frederick Theodore and Laura May (Raevley) Felchner.
He was a graduate of Staunton High School, Staunton, Illinois, and of
Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where he earned his bachelor of
science and masters degrees in electrical engineering.
Mr. Felchner had served in the Signal Corp of the U.S. Navy in the
Pacific Theater during World War II.
He had worked as a program manager for GTE for many years, and was a
world traveler as a result of his occupation of building satellite earth
stations. He had traveled to all 50 states and to 36 different countries.
Mr. Felchner enjoyed crossword puzzles, hunting, lobstering and reading.
He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by his son Bruce L., husband
of Melanie Kirkland, of Nashua, NH; a stepdaughter, Muriel E., wife of
Randall Kramer, of Hopkinton; a stepson Scott A. Kirkland of Henniker, NH;
his grandchildren, Kyra E. Kirkland of Nashua, NH, Tyler S., Brian E.,
Lindsay M., Kacey J. and Julieanna P. Kramer, all of Hopkinton, and James E.
Felchner of Wilburham; and his sister, Audrey, wife of Donald Allen, of
Staunton, IL
He was predeceased by a son, John F. Felchner; a granddaughter, Lauren
Felchner; and a daughter, Jann E. Clarke.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 3, at 1 p.m., in the First
Congregational Church, Rockport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First
Congregational Church, 12 School St., Rockport, MA 01966; or to the Hospice
of the North Shore, Inc., 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
