Olive Kuehne, 85

ROCKPORT — Olive (Lewis) Kuehne, 85, wife of Richard E. Kuehne, of Rockport,
died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 at Mass. General Hospital in Boston.
Born in Kingston, N.Y., on Dec. 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late
Howard Augustus and Margaret Crawford Lewis.
Olive was a graduate of Bennett College and Wells College, both located in
New York.
She loved the arts and enjoyed painting in both water color and oils. In New
York, she was a member of an artist co-op and gallery and in Massachusetts,
she was a longtime member of the Rockport Art Association.
Following in her father's philanthropic footsteps, Olive supported multiple
charities and church. She was also a member of the Junior League, the Garden
Club of America and served on the school board of Washingtonville Central
School in New York.
She lived with her family in Saginaw, Mich., Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y. and
Rockport.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by her three children,
Helene "Lenny" Turnquist and husband Paul of Boxford, Howard "Hal" Kuehne
and wife Mary Anne of Virginia Beach, Va., Margaret "Meg" Lustig of Jackson,
N.H.; grandchildren, Max and Paul Jr. "P.J." Turnquist, Ian and Meghan
Kuehne; and her sister, Clara "Scrappy" Yallum of Kingston, N.Y. Olive was
predeceased by her older sister, Margaret Beal of Kingston, N.Y.
