William T. Crocker Sr.

William Thomas Crocker Sr., 82, of Squam Road,
Rockport, passed away May 22, 2005, at home.
He was born November 27, 1922, in Akron, Ohio, and was
married to the late Jo Anne Zimmerman Crocker for 54 years. Bill was a
design engineer for Ace Rubber Co. of Akron for 35 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard a P.T. boat during
World War II in the Mediterranean and the Philippines. During his younger
years, he played amateur baseball in Akron, Ohio, and was inducted into the
Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985. He also enjoyed playing
handball and was an excellent fisherman.
Throughout his life, he and his family vacationed on
Cape Ann, and he eventually moved to Rockport after retirement. He was an
accomplished craftsman and loved working in his workshop designing and
making furniture, toys, bird and squirrel feeders and many other things for
his family and friends. He was working on one of his highly detailed Motif
No. 1 mailboxes at the time of his death.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humor,
generosity and his love of life.
He treasured his family and always put their needs and
happiness ahead of his own.
He is survived by a son, William T. Crocker Jr. and
his wife, Robin, of Rockport; a daughter, Joel Crocker Munroe and her
husband Skip, of Rockport; a daughter, Barbara Crocker and her partner,
Martha Bryan, of Mill River; three grandchildren, Leah, Kimberly and Sam
Crocker; and two sisters; Jane Senuta and Gertrude Snedden of Cuyahoga
Falls, Ohio.
ARRANGEMENTS: The family will hold a private service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cape Ann
Animal Association, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930. Funeral arrangements
are being conducted by the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main St.,
Rockport.
