Winifred "Winnie" Putnam

Winifred W. "Winnie" (White) Putnam, 84, wife of the late A. Rush Putnam, formerly of 28 Atlantic. Ave., Rockport, died on Tuesday evening at the Arcadia Manor Nursing Home Alzheimer Unit in Arcadia, LA.

She was born in Orange on Dec. 20,1910, to the late Clinton J. and M. Ray (Dougherty) White.

Mrs. Putnam was a graduate of Colby-Sawyer College, class of 1932.

She was a secretary in the finance office of Jordan Marsh in Boston for many years.

Mrs. Putnam had resided in Rockport for more than 50 years, where she was a member of The First Congregational Church, the Sandy Bay Yacht Club, the Rockport Art Association and the Old Garden Beach Association.

She is survived by a sister, Jacquelin W. Hubbard of Rockport; a nephew, Clinton L. "Tony," husband of Norma Hubbard, of Rockport; three nieces, Winifred R. Osta of New Paltz, N.Y., Patricia J. Covel of West Boylston and Jean Whites of Marlboro; a sister-in-law, Daisy White of Westboro; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mrs. Putnam was predeceased by a brother, William K. White.

Memorial services will be held in The First Congregational Church of Rockport, corner of Main and School streets, Rockport, on April 1 at 3 p.m. The Rev. R. Cameron Borton, pastor, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Sandy Bay Yacht Club Sailing Program and Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 37, Rockport, Mass., 01966.
