...PATCHY BLACK ICE THIS MORNING ESPECIALLY INLAND...
As temperatures cool before sunrise and fall at or below freezing,
combined with leftover moisture in the form of fog and wet roads,
patchy black ice will develop and impact the morning commute. Icy
roads will be most common across Northern Connecticut, Western
and Central Massachusetts given subfreezing temperatures. More
uncertainty into Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, where
cloud cover is helping to keep temperatures above freezing.
Nonetheless, any untreated surfaces may become icy, especially
secondary roads, bridges and overpasses. Conditions will improve
after 9 am or 10 am, as temperatures rise above freezing.
